Multiversal Magic

Shard Influence

Each shard provides a different type of magic to its inhabitants; some don't grant any, and each handles it in its own way within its borders.
Once an individual leaves their shard and travels to another, they can still use their magic, because once access to magic is gained, nothing, not even the void, can prevent someone from using it.

There are some magical inhibitors out there, they work on the power of the source, and they operate by cutting someone off from the energy that fuels them.

Types of Magic

There are two main types of magic, the first is that which is granted at birth, either randomly or on a percentage basis. sometimes it is genetic, and in some cases, it is guaranteed, all these types of magic are called inborn magic.

The other type is that which is gained later in life, it is found, or granted, it is given independent of birth, and relies only on things that happen during one's lifetime.

For individuals who travel between shards, it is relevant to know what type of magic this new world uses, because if it is an inborn type, they will have no way of gaining access to it, however, if it is gained later in life, there have just as much chance to get it as anyone else in that world.

If one of these travelers gives birth in a foreign world, their child may gain access to an inborn type of magic, unless it is based on genetics.

Shard Magic

Shard magic is that which is given to shards themselves, they vary from shard to shard, especially based on the strength of said shard.
The bigger and stronger a shard, the more access they have to the One's powers of creation.

Smaller shards may only have limited creation potential, and are more limited to the presets laid out for them.

Shards in shard unions often need to work together in order to create things. or they each focus their energy on one specific thing.

Shardlings

Shardlings are beings who have in some way absorbed a fraction of a shard's energy, this doesn't make them shards themselves, but they are akin to shards.
They have gained a piece of their power, this can happen in any number of ways, either on purpose, or by accident, many lesser shards aren't even aware they possess the ability to create shardlings, and doing it on purpose is no small feat.

Shardlings gain access to the most basic of shard magics, as well as a special connection to the divine principles, allowing them to call upon presence to create their own pocket dimension.

Shardlings aren't fully immortal, but they stop aging normally, and they generally don't die of natural causes, but they can still be killed.

Voidlings

Just as beings can absorb power from the One, or its shards, they can also absorb power from the void. This happens in various stages, and it can have different effects, in most cases, people simply die, or go insane.
Because the dead never return, the insanity is most commonly associated with voidlings, and while this is definitely common, it isn't the rule.

In some rare instances, it may happen that they become true voidlings, beings imbued with void energy, they absorb a piece of void power, making them very powerful, and immortal. Although, like shardlings, they can still be killed.

This most often happens when a person comes in contact with a void god while traveling the void.
