Demons versus mortals

Three-thousand and forty turns ago the Gods created the The Blessing and in so doing excised themselves from the world of mortals, they did however leave behind the Demons that they had been at constant war with for as far back as history went, or nearly that far anyway. The ritual that was supposed to rid the mortal realms of Demons went horribly wrong and now Gods are absent while Demons remain.   Luckily for the mortals, the Demons are confined to a small portion of the world, but their influence is still felt everywhere.   Since the Blessing, many mortals have continued the fight the Gods had waged, partly because a world without Demons would be a great world indeed, but mostly because, even though Demons cannot leave their confinement to dominate the mortals where they live, they can still reach out into the Blessing to cause pain and havoc. Demons send their minions, devils and monsters, into the Blessing to corrupt, kill and sow misery among the mortals wherever they can. Warlocks are their worst weapons, mortals lured into service of a Demon and given great power to use magic.   The majority of mortals continue to fight against Demons and their creations, but Demon-made monsters take a lot to kill, often wiping out entire towns or villages before being brought down. Devils are a different matter, skulking about in shadows and staying hidden, but constantly causing mischief and mayhem. Demons continue to send monsters and devils across the border of the Blessing into places mortals dwell.   Killing a Demon is practically impossible for a mortal and has not been done since before the Blessing. Even when killed, Demons return to their home existence and regenerate over a few years, no time at all for an immortal being. Unless a demon is destroyed both bodily and spiritually, it will return.   The only thing that keeps the battle at all even is the Blessing left by the Gods, the fact that Demons cannot tread here themselves and must work through minions that are much much weaker than they themselves are.   To this day, Wizards and great warriors continue to search for ways to kill Demons and their creations, searching for weapons and artifacts used by the Gods, to destroy all the Demons and rid the world of their kind. The Demons in turn search for a way to break the Blessing so they can take over the world in the absence of the Gods.
Why don't we leave them well enough alone? They are cut off from the world by the borders of the blessing and we can deal with what little havoc they throw our way! - Androit Perrywills, Wizard of Selioria

Because they will, someday, find enough power together to break the border and come in-force for the rest of Halconiket and the world. - Alfred Snalia, Wizard of Malminar

A trunbull - small demon-created monsters who are tough to kill and love to eat flesh from living mortals. Their bite is poison to all intelligent mortals but the Altemen. They dwell underground and dig traps for the unwary in remote places.
A devil - small but fast, these creations of Demons can use limited magic and like to keep to the shadows, preferring to instigate trouble and disappear. They are fairly easy to kill, but are highly intelligent and very cunning.
