Crown Prince of Deira, Bernhard is the only son of King Eadric and Queen Mathilde. At thirteen, he was captured during the sack of Dunwych by Jarl Gunnar Bloodaxe and now awaits ransom on Uisgneach. Trained in war and poetry, Bernhard vows vengeance against the Reginnsþjóð.
Queen Dowager Mahthildis
Mahthildis, Dowager Queen of Deira, was once a formidable ruler who held power during her husband’s campaigns and later led a rebellion against her own son, Eadric. Betrayed and confined for decades, she watches bitterly as her grim predictions for his reign unfold, believing herself the kingdom’s rightful and more capable queen.
