Nestled against the steep cliffs that rise on three sides of the town, West Harbor crowns Nancarrow Bay as the largest population center on the Island of Vorna. With a mixture of stone and timber-frame buildings, sometimes stacking as high as six or more floors, the architecture stands as one of the purest examples of Old Brycian building styles and techniques, utilizing steeply gabled roofs and structures with overhanging upper floors. The town itself is built along a tiered 90-degree crescent of land, utilizing every bit of available space between the water and the cliffs overhead. Two waterfalls majestically tower above even the highest rooftops, feeding two canals that wind through town and provide fresh water for the population. The old Brycian "chapel" dominates the cityscape with its 250-ft tall belltower and imposing nave, complete with flying buttresses. The building dates back to early colonial times, about two centuries before the Harrowing , and now functions as the Tin Exchange, hosting meetings for Trevarthen officials, as well as (heavily monitored) forums for miners and middlemen. The “Trevy Palace,” as locals call it, houses the formidable Trevarthen family and their offices, towering over the town from its western perch on “Trevy Rock.”
