Zevel III Bliebl

His Nobility Zevel Azkai Bliebl, Third of This Name, Galvizrigter, Champion of the Jester's Bridge, Benevolent Ruler of the Crossroads, Lord of Rapulari and Protector of the Earth, Sky and Sea

May we have prosperity and peace in our time. May we see an end to the endless wars and squabbles that characterized the reign of my father. May the gods of the Galvan people see me as a fit ruler for the years to come. May I live long enough to see children for my children and the blessing of the Lady of the Crossroads for my people forevermore.
— Zevel at the feast of his Rigternhobing
A man of few words, the first years of the reign of Zevel III Bliebl have been surprisingly uneventful. Inheriting a realm that had seen to much internal strife and external pressures, he has remarkably seen much of the prosperity and peace that he had wished five years ago. While most have enjoyed this reprieve, there are whispers that this calm is merely an intermission for a play about to enter its most crucial act...

An End to War

The conflict-filled tail years of Karal X Bliebl left the various Erlèn of the Galvan nation tired and demoralized. It's no surprise that the new Richter has taken the opposite stance on war to his predecessor. The Sixth Succession Crisis led to the death of half of Zevel's relatives and a significant distrust of the nobility, particularly in the east where the fighting was at its worst. In an attempt to shore up his reputation or an expression of grief for the thousands who died in the fighting, Zevel has placed a ban on large-scale wars with exterior opponents and has ordered the Erlèn to rein in their independent-minded squabbling nobles.

Fielskaldling

This Galvan word (which roughly translates to "multi-skilled one") didn't exist except in the oldest records of the well-mannered and worldly Richterèn who proceeded the bloody conflict of the previous succession crisis some two centuries past. Decrying that the Richterèn of his family have put too much focus on warlike pursuits, a new culture is developing at court centred around the well-educated and hobby-loving. Zevel himself is fond of philosophy, astrology, history and woodcarving, and the nobility that he surrounds himself with have equally as divergent interests. This has led to a flowering of art and cultural works along the Galvan Coast.

Internal Conflicts

The reign of Zevel III has not been without issue. Firstly, the growing uncertainty of the Crown regarding rebellious movements such as the King's Knightmare and the Vepbrun Martyrs is making many nobility uneasy about the current power of Church and State. Second, movements calling for a more democratic nation such as many rebels captured and executed during the Fiasco at Finster have put into question the very fundamental power of the Richter. Lastly, the advances and developments in neighbouring Binian nations have made many worried that they plan to conquer the land. But for the moment, diplomacy and peaceful relationships have prevented most outright conflicts.
