General Summary

"9 damage. 'I think you're an ugly one!"   "Your Vicious Mockery is so bad, he now has low self-esteem...Congratulations, you have dissed him to death."   ~Sometimes you wonder if the designers of this game purposefully allowed these things to happen

Dramatis Personae

Heroes of the Story:

  • Gúrda Thérun, a Frost Dwarf druid from the wild North;
  • Geort Adanar, a human paladin and a rough and tumble sort;
  • Melé Alkabahar, a human avenger, seeking glory in battle against evil; and
  • Daz Dromégar, a human bard, aiming to defeat the local bandits and free his old friends.
  • In the bandit camp of Calteri:

  • A varied amount of bandits;
  • Gardayn Pershâl, a Red Dwarf used to sneaking and smithing; and
  • Meti Aslingar, a old friend turned worst enemy.
  • What Happened

    As Melé and Daz climbed up the wall, the fighting began. Geort and Gúrda left the bushes in which they were hiding and attacked as well. They made quick work of the four guards at the gate, and were even able to prevent one from getting to the stone keep of the bandits and raising the alarm. One of them was a mage in green robes with a wand, which was of interest.   After their run-in at the gate, the four of them ran off and hid in the ruins of an old Calterian store. As they rested from their battles, Melé noticed another bandit guard travelling the walls near the gate, and Daz realized that the bodies of the slaughtered bandits were in full view. With Gúrda in tow, he quickly returned and began to hide the bodies. He was unfortunately spotted and questioned by the guard and it was only a few well-placed words that prevented him being taken away for questioning. That, and a well-placed bolt of lightning from Gúrda killed the guard on the spot.   After returning and having an awkward conversation about whether or not Gúrda was a werewolf, they continued travelling down the rubble-filled streets of the ruined city. About halfway to the keep, the group came upon a smithy where Gardayn, along with a trio of helpers, was forging more of the jagged spears and rusty chainmail that the bandits use for armour and weapons. A distraction separated one of the helpers from his friends. He wasn't quietly dealt with, which attracted the other three to the sound. A small scuffle ensued that led to the death of Gardayn and his helpers and the discovery of magical armour.   Following this, the group continued on to the keep. Gúrda used their druidic magic to set some firewood ablaze as a distraction while the whole group attempted to sneak over the wall using a large wooden ladder lying against the wall. The entire group found their way over the wall and Daz threw a guard through a window. They were almost all the way to the wooden hall in the centre of the keep when a guard caught them and sounded the alarm.   A short fight ended that guard, but the sounding of the alarm alerted a dozen others, as well as the Faytouched himself. It turns out that the posters and the rumours were true; Meti of the bathhouse and fan of Geort was actually the leader of the bandits and a warlock of great power. Quickly, the group fought through the half a dozen guards that blocked the doors to the hall. Meti's spells were of no use when he was up against Melé's sword, and the members of the party carved through him and the guards that he kept about his person.   After defeating the bandits, the four adventurers explored the hall but found no trace of Daz's troupe or the bandits' amassed wealth. The group decided to go in search of those things...
