Verubi

The name given to the school of Zhak'raa magic that involves the manipulation of blood. It is one of four disciplines under the Master rank of magic, and is usually considered by others to be the element most taxing on the user, or the discipline with the highest body count.

Effect

Verubi spells most commonly make use of an individual's blood (either their own or their opponents) to lacerate, exsanguinate or disorientate. Through the power of Zhak'raa, blood can either be siphoned from a victim or from Blood Shards. Once manifested, the material can be shaped and directed to physically cut objects and people, or to smother them. A useful application of the magic is to quickly and efficiently "push" the blood out of an individual, immediately making them light-headed and weak. This disorientation can be enough to gain the upper hand in a fight with a fellow spellcaster.

Side/Secondary Effects

Like all Master schools of magic under Zhak'raa, there is a significant drain on the physiological wellbeing of the user. These spells tend to leave the spellcasters fatigued as well as mentally exhausted.   In particular, Verubi spells tend to leave physical bruising in the caster, as well as the risk of internal bleeding. If there has not been enough blood supplied for a spell, an inexperienced user may accidentally tap themselves to make up the difference. It is an extremely risky system of magic that leaves many victims in its wake and leaves little room for error.

Requirements

The blood price varies from spellcaster to spellcaster, from spell to spell. More experienced Archomancers will not require as much blood for high-level spells as a newly-inducted Master. However, there is always a cost that must be paid. If there is insufficient plasmic material for the spell, it will lash out for the nearest blood-bag, whoever it may be.
