29 - 6/3

With assassins on board and the enemy vessel closing in, the group continued to battle the rat invaders. After Ira and other allies joined the fight from below deck, the tide began to turn until the enemy ship finally closed in for boarding. While the initial fighting was fierce, eventually the group began to gain the upper hand and the enemy captain Rattus sounded the retreat.   Not wishing to miss an opportunity to find out why they were being attacked, Zelem cast charm person on the captain and convinced them to negotiate. The rat pirate had been hired as an assassin by some unknown person at Santa Quint, and found a possible lead on how to track them down. With multiple of the group receiving bites from the rats, concern began to arise over the coming full moon and whether any had contracted the curse.   After gathering what information they could, the enemy ship began to drift away. As a last second bit of a revenge, Ira launched a blast of acid at the enemy, slaying two additional pirates. Suddenly a mysterious shadowy figured appeared behind them holding a scythe, sucking the life force from them before returning back through a dark portal. Morrigan got some questioning, but ultimately the group decided at least she was on their side.   Upon investigating the ship more, it was found that First Mate Jibs had simply passed out in a crate. He seemed unsure of what the ruckus was about, and the group began to wonder how their rudder was sabatoged. After sailing a bit further towards the island, the group set watches for a rest and prepared for the final leg of the journey.
