With the town of Saltmarsh on edge after the Assassination of Eda Oweland and the disappearance of Anders Solmor, both members of the town council, Morrigan and Zelem prepared to venture to Abbey Isle. Here they hoped to find a healer capable of resurrecting their friend Danta and to see if they could provide the very rare diamonds for the ritual, to meet pirates in discussion of what to do with the town of Kennmouth now that it is empty, as well as just seeking a chance to lay low for awhile.
On the docks, the ships dwarven captain Wharf introduced himself, proving to be a somewhat difficult man to communicate with. Priscilla met with Morrigan and Zelem to confirm their plans of meeting the pirates and saw Zelem off.
While on the docks Zelem was confronted by a man he had not seem in some time, his uncle Valafar. His 10 year sentence was up and he was trying to get back on his feet, upon hearing of interesting folk around town he hoped his nephew would help him out. Around this time two other crew members introduced themselves by the name of Panic and Ruven, also seeking the healing powers of the powerful clerics of the isle. Valafar hit it off well with Morrigan, attempting to play the Suave romantic type, but Zelem cautioned his uncle about getting involved with her.
Finally with the group together, the voyage begun. The first night was a one of celebration and meeting their new companions, as well as discovering a poor orphan boy stowed aboard by the name of Timotht. The second day proved a bit less fortunate, as early on it was discovered the first mate Jibs was missing and the rudder had been cut! On the horizon sails were seen, and a ship rapidly approached, signaling some sort of betrayel.
As the ship rapidly approached, a stealthy group of wererats boarded the deck before the others realized they were there, and using their rat companions launched a devestating initial strike on the defenders. Despite the initial damage, the group was not down yet and began to defend themselves as the Sea Rat and its ferocious crew quickly closed in.
