With the meek goblin chieftain Yegg at their mercy, Morrigan informed the creature that he and his tribe now worked for her. While the goblin was skeptical and fearful of the half-elf, it was better than being killed. The Goblin was more than willing to share what he knew with the group and told them that he and his small group had split off from their tribe in the hills, and were searching for a new home.
Their tribe was under attack from vicious gnolls, and throughout the conversation he revealed there were some kobolds, orcs and even a necromancer somewhere in the hills. Seeing an opportunity, Morrigan and Zelem wished to seek them out and began to form a group for this new adventure. Danta and Ira would remain at the castle to ensure the goblins behaved, and only be called upon if they were needed. Nessali had slithered into the castle in search of adventure and food, and insisted on joining them. Along with Morrigans cousin Robin, the group set off to the caves.
Upon arrival, Yegg returned to the keep and allowed the group to explore. The very essence of evil radiated from the area, while it unsettled Robin, Morrigan and Nessali both basked in the regions sense of evil. The yuan-ti easily tracked the footprints of goblins to their hovel, but unfortunately noone spoke Goblin so the goblins in the entrance scattered. Morrigan cornered a few, and did her best to use pictograms to communicate with them. They seemed to get the jist, and brought Morrigan through the winding passages to their leader.
The goblin shaman Pleec seemed confused by the whole deal, but the promise of having their enemies crushed and the possibility of receiving weapons and gold from the surface dwellers was enough to convince the goblins to work with them. As long as the gnolls were wiped out, they would agree to ally with the surface dwellers. The shaman told them of an ogre mercenary nearby, possibly a dangerous foe but she could be a strong ally if they could meet her cost. The group decided this would be far more preferable than risking it being a foe, and had a goblin guide lead them to its cave. The hulking monstrosity Hilda informed them of the rather steep cost for her services. Begrudgingly Zelem agreed to the payment, and the ogre pledged her muscle to the party.
On the way to the gnolls, a basilisk came out of the trees and tried to get an easy meal. Morrigan began to succumb to its paralyzing gaze, but thankfully the group fell the beast and she managed to resist its effect. With the path forward clear, the party along with their ogre mercenary prepared to lay siege to the gnolls lair.
