With the sun setting, Morrigan and Zelem returned to the Oweland estate. Morrigans half-elven spymaster and friend Raven gave her a reply from Anders Solmor, who invited her to dinner in two days at an upscale establishment called The Lavender Road. During the night, Morrigans deity Hecate gave her cleric a demand, that of expanding her worship. How to achieve this would be solved later, but Morrigan now had a new personal goal.
In the morning the pair set off to the docks with Ira in tow as added muscle should she be necessary, where they met with the sorceress guard sergeant Elva. She was now apart of the guard but used to serve as a mercenary aboard a ship, and was open to conversing with the party. Her companion Phillip was an intelligent if disagreeable man, and the pair suspected he might be power hungry. Phillip commanded the port authority, and inspected incoming goods for contraband and to levy taxes.
Elva herself seemed concerned that the orcs of the plains were becoming more bold and were attacking the outlying regions of Saltmarsh. She said how they used to employ a few mercenary companies, but with the disbanding of the Sea Shepherds and a lack of funding, the orcs have grown into a larger and larger threat. Morrigan contemplated using these orcs for her own purposes, as orcs were simple but strong and could prove useful. Elva thought somehow Morrigan could convince her mother Eda to hire more soldiers to patrol for orcs, possibly the The Basilisks Stare mercenary company or even adventurers. She also mentioned how there was another adventuring group led by a paladin of the Daughters of Freya, but didn't have much more information on the subject. Lastly she mentioned how the construction of a possible citadel for the seaguard would be done if the mining company headquarters was a success, as if it proved possible Bards Gate could justify the expense in fortifying the settlement. She was generally in support of this endeavor, which was something the traditionalists seem to oppose.
Lastly the pair decided to visit the dwarven mining headquarters and another council member, Manistrad Copperlocks. But before meeting with the dwarves and knowing that they had animosity with the Owelands, Zelem helped Morrigan assume an alternate identity as a full fledged elf named Daena.
With an adequate disguise, the two ventured to the southern portion of the village across the dreaded Sharkfin Bridge that Morrigan vowed to destroy some day. There they met the council member masquerading as adventurers seeking work, and the council member was more than willing to offer rewards should they do tasks for her. The main one she wished help with was near the dwarven mining headquarters, north of the house that Zelem had previous cleared, was a ruined village named Kennmouth. The Dwarven council member wished that this village be secured so that there was a closer port to the dwarves from which to ship and send goods. She also mentioned how a local thieves guild named The Sea Knives had been causing her problems, and if the two could put an end to them she would pay handsomely
With a few interesting leads, the two paused to ponder their next line of questioning.
