Zelem and his new partner-in-crime Morrigan exchanged introductions and some personal information about their skills and powers, including Zelems mysterious watery patron and Morrigans secret worship of Hecate. After learning a bit of their plans and goals, the two began to plot their plan in tackling the task set before them. Morrigan revealed that her cousin Robin was a member of the guard, and might be a good starting point for gauging the organization and its members, and as an Oweland she might even be a good replacement for the councilmen Eliander Fireborn. After learning that Zelem was staying at the inn, Morrigan offered him a room at the Oweland estate and proceeded back to the Oweland Estate where the two retired for the night.
With a fresh new day ahead, the pair set off and asked a guard patrol if they might know where Robin is located. The first dwarf they talked to seemed hostile once Morrigan revealed her name, but the human Miela was more receptive. She remembered Robin being at the south gate, and before departing the pair sowed some distrust in her about the guard being ran a council member. Miela hadn't really considered it, but did agree that he should be focusing on a single job.
WIth that the two made it to the south gate where they found a bunch of lazy old-timers serving out their days in one of the cozier jobs in the towns watch. Morrigans cousin was just finishing up her shift on top of the wall on an easy patrol, and after catching up the group decided to head to the local watering hole, The Wicker Goat, known for serving the dwarves of the mining operation and many of the guard. Here the pair shared their thoughts with Morrigans cousin on the state of the affairs. She generally agreed with the two, but didn't really have much to add, and generally thought that Eliander was doing ok. The group asked if Robin thought she could be guard captain, but she was taken aback and did not think she had the experience or backing to run the guard.
Robin did share with them information on other sergeants of the guard that could be suitable replacements, and the group departed on good terms. Deciding that her cousin seemed to be in a bit of a rush and being curious what she was up to, Morrigan and Zelem tailed her first to the market and then south of town. She was in a rush and did not seem to notice her being followed to a small farm well on the outskirts of Saltmarsh. Morrigan proceeded inside and confronted her bewildered cousin who, despite less than an hour ago having ranted about hating orcs, appeared to have found love in the form of an orcish woman named Glasha. Robin played it up that she was merely a friend, and Morrigan was careful to maintain good terms with her cousin and agreed to tutelage in orcish from her cousin, before returning to Zelem and departing back to Saltmarsh.
Robin had told the pair of her old captain, Etmund, a retired cavalrymen from the same mercenary company as Robin called The Sea Shepherds. Zelem as his alter-ego Valor Windsail and Morrigan began discussions with him, and the old soldier perked up when the topic of politics came up. He had a lot to say about taxes and property and seemed like an intriguing candidate for the duos needs as a possible replacement for guard captain. Unfortunately he was a bit slothful, but that could also prove to be a benefit.
With that meeting out of the way, the two wished to meet with another sergeant of the guard they had heard of named Elva, and set off towards the port to find out where she was stationed.

Important Characters

Morrigan Oweland - Heir to the Oweland estate and The Oweland Family, half-elven daughter of Eda Oweland and cousin of Robin Oweland. She is ambitious and beginning her political career.

Zelem - Tiefling, conman and swindler. Accomplice and partner in crime of Morrigan, has numerous alter-egos including Valor Windsail who is considered upstanding and is liked by the guard.

Robin Oweland - Robin is part of the Oweland Family but is somewhat independant and not involved with thefamily affairs as much as the others. She hasn't seen Morrigan in some time.

Glasha - Robin Owelands apparent forbidden love, a full blooded orc who Robin had met while on patrol in the plains of mayfurrow. She is staying on the outskirts of town under the protection of a half-orc farmer.

Gellan Primewater - A traditionalist council member of Saltmarsh, he is involved in shady activities throughout the town. Does not wish Bards Gate to expand their influence and wants to keep the town small so he maintains his influence in it.

Eda Oweland - Matriarch of the The Owelands, fairly old and not in great health. One of five Council members of Saltmarsh.

Eliander Fireborn - The intimidating council member is loyal to Bards Gate and holds the position of Captain of the Guard.

Miela - One of the guard, Morrigan and Zelem planted the seeds of doubt about Eliander being both guard captain and a council member. It seems this worked, as this sentiment spread throughout the guard.

Etmund - Etmund is an old horsemen, now a captain in the Saltmarsh town watch. The party thinks he will be a suitable replacement as guard captain once Eliander is overthrown.
