Maur-Eturo

The ancient Vaasan city of Maur-Eturo is built into the jagged cliffs of the eastern edge of the Black Steppes. There are massive caves here that descend into the depths of the earth and go back a distance that seems impossible. Incredibly large stone carvings portray dire bears, some with unusual barding (like a warhorse) and some standing upright like humanoids wearing armor. These are covered with glyphs that none here understand.   There are tombs below Maur-Eturo, and these tombs hold polished granite sarcophagi that are over 18' (5 meters) in length. Tales from the First Bloodstone War tell that when Zhengyi broke these open; malformed undead giants emerged to join his army. Only about 10% of those that have been discovered remain unbroken, and the people here today are too scared to break them open to see what could still be inside. Whispers are that there are even more of them yet undiscovered in the deeper caves. Who can be sure?   The land around the Maur is not terribly good for farming and the people of this city are usually on the verge of starvation. Many ex-soldiers and mercenaries who have aged out of useful service live here. The populace is a strange mix of Humans, Half-Orc (and other   The city today is ruled by a surviving general from the war named Prevail Ashintok. He is a (mostly) Human Fighter Monk who was originally from Palischuk and chose not to return there upon Zhengyi's defeat and the expulsion of Vaasa's forces from Damara.
