Breaking Bluff

Breaking Bluff is built around a very modest castle structure that has been rebuilt on top of a ruin from a previous age. Built in the years immediately following the Second Bloodstone War, Breaking Bluff sits on foundations that are speculated to be of Dwarven construction, but even some Dwarves disagree.  In any event, the town of about 500 consists of Humans, Dwarves and a few Half-Elves (of Wood and Silver lineage) who live relatively peacefully and work the various mines within a few hours of the village. The furthest mine from Breaking Bluff is the site called Deep Fathom, which has its own hamlet built around it.   A young man named Lord Marlin Whitesparrow lives in the castle and governs the village. He is assisted by Sheriff Ruth Willowmane and her team of eight constables who keep the peace. If something serious should require more heft, Marlin and Ruth can call on maybe a dozen others who would pick up an axe or sword to help.   Visitors here might stay at the Summerspring Inn, or inquire about lodging at the Temple to Lathander maintained by the Silver Elf Elovyn Sorrowsong. Staying at the Inn has the added benefit of the attached Evershandy Tavern, where one can obtain good food and of course a cold 'shandy. Miners and mountaineers get their gear at Grayhorn Outfitters, owned and operated by a retired Half-Gold Elf adventurer named Gavun and his Human wife Arrianne, and adventurers can find equipment here too.   Though the village is barely three decades old, the people here truly think of it as their home. Recent peaceful encounters with denizens of Iron Timber show great promise that an allegiance of mutual peace and benefit is possible (as long as nothing happens to derail it).
