Patina Forest

Unlike the neighboring Slag Lands, the Patina Forest is filled with life. The coniferous trees here boast needles that sheen a brilliant copper color in the cold months and gradually oxidize to green in the warm season. Daily rainfall near the Lustrous Peaks washes mineral rich soil leading to the rapid growth of the Patina Forest.

The Patina Forest lies between the Golden Skull Straits and the Lustrous Peaks, stretching between Aqshy's Egg and the Slag Lands. This ancient forest hosts good hunting, fresh water, and plentiful resources. The northernmost tip is home to the Mire of Fools, a dehydrated swamp that is both too hard to farm and too soft to build upon.

Flora And Fauna

Gold-Berries and Rustlichens are plentiful in the forest undergrowth. Cobalt-Horns can be found in the warmer months, sparing for territory and mating rights. The rusty howls of Goldenmane Wolves signal seasons change to the colder months and are considered a warning to those under prepared for winter.

The People

Superstitious and naturalistic the locals here are wary of outsiders, preferring to not be seen by them at all. Only the chieftains are allowed to communicate to travelers, the rest of the clan hiding out of sight. They wear clothing made of tree bark shavings, forming a type of crude mail. If willing to trade, the forest dwellers will leave dead drops in caves expecting the recipient to take the goods, leave payment, and vacate the area as soon as possible.

The folk here rumor that this region belongs to a wild Ironbark Sylvaneth glade and the metallic screeching sometimes heard is their spirit song, others nervously will tell you that the sounds are just the wind in the trees.

The Noble Huntsman Lodge calls this region home, a place where hunters of all stripes compete to bring in the largest trophy, it is decorated with skins and mounts from all over the region.
