Terdaal

Capitol City of Farflare , the forth largest city in Valar Empire. The city started as Akhatai raiding outpost,   Located on and around a hill in Danta river curve in north-western part of Farflare The hill is quite tall and there is a vertical feel to the city, the Ashen Keep, the towers of The Spires and brilliant white Marble Terraces are visible from almost every part of the city.   A city of this size has an Lawmaster office in almost every district   There are two main parts of the city, high wall and low wall. The high wall districts are clean and beautiful, there is a significant guard presence, and many people are not allowed to be there, entrance is at discretion of guards. Low wall is a mixed bag, but it is in general less clean, there are larger crowds, social injustices are easily spottable, and the money pouch is never safe.   High Wall:
Ashen Keep - in a northern part of higher walls, located on top of a hill, last defense line of the city, with many tall towers and weapon encampments, there is a shrine to Yuuvi and large statue of Nero above main gate, not many people actually live there, some of them are: Guard Captain of the city, main chaplain of the castle, lawmaster of Farflare, some servants. There is a large throne room in the keep where Valar can hold court and audiences, lawmaster sometimes uses this room is significant judgements. Vogt family and their courtiers lead their live in spires. The keep is located above riverbank, there is a way to the river but it is concealed and well protected
  Spires - a mostly residential district in high wall, south and west from Ashen Keep, there are several large mansions, including Valar Palace and Royal Gardens, in a part near the walls there are many houses and tenements where most influential and richest burgher live, many of these building have tall, mostly decorative towers from which the name of the district comes Many of richer nobles of Farflare have residence here, including the Vogt family.   Marble Terraces - a district in eastern part of high walls, filled with important offices, including the Lawmaster of both the Terdaal and the Farflare, a circular pantheon temple with shrines to every god, stewards office, the recruitment office and a barracks of the VE military, convocation tower, the lorekeeper archive, Onyxleaves Estate - a temple to Unknowable Mistress and embassy of Blackglade. Many entertainment establishments litter the district. There are also many shops that sell luxuries, gems, arcane artifacts, magical items, some of which are:
  • Winzers Anvil - an almost legendary smithy, Nero himself apprenticed there in his youth, and Winzer family used that notoriety, it is considered to be some of the greatest weaponsmiths on the continent. They are gnomes and important part in local Ruckus for many decades, in the smithy there is a sword displayed as "Imperfect Blade", a sword that Winzers claim that Nero forged himself.
  • Dragons Tail - a shop of wonderous items and arcane artifacts, located on the Neros Square, there is a severed and preserved black dragons tail above the entrance to this beautiful building with marble and granite fasade. Inside is a tidy room with many items on display. Argok Sevridiah, a silver dragonborn runs the shop, he is notable for many scars covering his body, and also the fact that dragonborn are very rare in Empire.
Other important locations:
  • The Lorekeeper Archive - one of lorekeeper libraries, order of knowledge seekers and preservers, under direct patronage of Vogts
  • The Bards Tale - a luxury bar, with daily live music, stories, acted scenes, excellent food and drink
  • Alabaster Scene - a lone theatre in the city, with luxurious interior and large circular stage made with white wood and stone. It is a luxurious venue and place to be for elites of the Farflare.
  Low Wall: Temple district - a smaller district, wedged between the new market to the west and the works to the east, there are several significant temples in the district, a temple to Yuuvi, Riccus, Ostrach, there is also the Umbrel Mausoleum, and Terdaal Pyres(cementary)   New Market - a district between docks to west and temple district to the east, centred around the two large squares, the Cobble Square and smaller Lightbringer Plaza, the market is held on both plazas every other day, there are also many shops, workshops, smithies, many burghers of middle class live here, there are large wide alley, making a way from southern gate to Border Bridge and beyond, there are several wider alleys leading to other districts, rest of passages are narrow, and create quite a labyrinth, most buildings are two or three story tall tenements where businesses are located in floor level and people live in higher levels. There are many known inns and taverns in the New Market.   Docks - the larger cityside port is located here, crucial in river trade, the district is littered with werehouses, shipwright workshops and such, not many people live here and the district can get quite dangerous at night.   Works - the largest district in Terdaal, most of the population lives here, it is unofficially divided into upper works and wallside works, upper works are wealthier, and generally nicer place to live, wallside works are a poor district but still better than riverside, Nero was born somewhere in the Works.   Riverside - the part of the city on the eastern bank of Danta river over the Border Bridge (used to be the border between Farflare and Eskain Riverlands), it is the poorest part of the city, teaming with crime, homelessness, the small riverside port is located here, the Menagerie has their headquarters somewhere in this district

74% human, 10% dwarf, 7% halfling, 5% half-elf, 1,2% gnome, 1% half-orcs, 0,5% elf (70% drow), 0,3% dragonborn

Government

The city is run by the Steward and the council, on the council there are representatives of guilds, citizens, lawmaster, temples, gnome ruckus and so on. Every appointment is approved by the Valar, which makes them extremely influential in the city. Steward office and city guard are responsible for everyday workings of the city, both employ hundreds of people.

Defences

The city has thick inner and outer walls. Most districts are littered with defensive towers, sometimes on top of buildings sporting ballistae and cannons. Danta river creates a natural barrier from north and east. There is a moat that surrounds the upper wall districts.
