The Reeve's Hall
The Reeve's Hall is not the residence of the Reeve of Bree. Rather it is the town courthouse, archive, armory, and treasury all rolled into one.
The main floor is a high-roofed hall where judgements are held. At the back on the upper floor is a set of rooms that serve the Reeve as an office and parlor. Shelves in these rooms hold the town archives: a handful of very old books along with a few newer ones and a very large collection of scrolls and tomes that make up the records of the town. Every birth, death, trial, and other significant event in the town's history is to be found here.
The cellars of the Reeve's hall are kept locked and keys are held only by the Reeve and the Chief Warden. Local rumor claims the cellars are full of ancient artifacts and treasures of the Days of the Kings. More practically, the cellars hold the small armory of Bree: a collection of iron helms of various styles, several spear, and a few very old shields. The maintaining of the gear is this armory is one of the main duties of the Chief Warden, a hobbit named Will Banks.
On market-days, the Reeve's herald reads out proclamations and alterations to the by-laws from the front porch of the Reeve's Hall.
