Staddle
The village of Staddle sits a stone's throw from Bree on he eastern slopes of the hill. It is home to most of Bree Hill's hobbit population -more than half the village is underground - though there are also several families of the Big Folk that make their homes in the village.
Demographics
Staddle is mostly hobbits with about 100 Big Folk living among them.
Government
Staddle elects its representative to the Bree Council annually, though the winner is inevitably a member of the Tunnelly family.
Industry & Trade
Staddle's folk earn their living farming and keeping sheep. Staddle is also home to a Windmill that grinds most of the grain around Bree Hill, and the sheep raised, combined with those raised on the slopes of Combe provide the wool for the area.
Architecture
About half of Staddle is underground in a vast network of hobbit-holes known locally as The Smial. The Big Folk of the village live in stone houses along the slope of the hill, though these stone houses tend to be all on one level and often with round doors. Some even have turf roofs, giving them the look of human-sized hobbit holes.
Geography
Staddle sits on the eastern slopes of Bree Hill, facing the Midgewater Marshes and the southern eaves of the Chetwood. The land around the village is quiet pastureland on which the people of Staddle raise sheep.
