Oswald Breeker

"A hard, cold man is old Breeker, but that's hardly surprising considering what happened to him. Enough grief can a heart to stone." - Barliman Butterbur   Oswald Breeker is a wizened old man living in an ancient estate house on the edge of the village of Combe. Local lore says the Breekers are descended from a great lord - some say a king! - of ancient days. Whether or not that's true, Oswald is as close as gets to a Lord in the Bree-lands. He owns most of the farmland around Combe and expects prompt payment from his tenant-farmers.   Rumor and legend surround Breeker and his tragic life. Twenty years ago, he lost his only child while she was still young. Not long after, his wife disappeared. No one really knows what became of her, but rumor abounds. Some say her ghost haunts the ruins at the end of Combe Valley. His large home is also known to possess a large library of ancient tomes and scrolls, and any man who possesses such thing must be strange.
