Ruin

Written by Sterrestel

Do you know, little golden girl,
why Hope is considered treacherous?

Because in Hope’s wake follows Destruction;
after all, the higher one climbs,
the further one falls
to the jagged stones below.

Do you know, little golden boy,
why Hope is more dangerous than time?

Because Hope keeps people from surrender;
rather they continue, led by the very idea of success,
attainable or not.

Do you know, little golden warrior,
why Hope and Destruction
are so perfectly intertwined?

Because we allowed it.
We created them,
forged two into one.
We bring Hope to the people,
only to snatch it away
from outstretched fingers,
cold and lifeless.

And then when they rise up in protest,
we act surprised.

As if we ourselves had forgotten
the Destructive nature of Hope;
Hope in Destruction.

Faith in Funis themself.
