Lucky Rabbit's Foot Item in The Locket | World Anvil

Lucky Rabbit's Foot

It is said that a rare kind of rabbit foot will bring unimaginable luck to she who holds it on her person. And for the most part, such a tale is true.

A rare relic, known as a luck rabbit foot, does exist. But it is not a foot; instead, it is the tail of a god. Theofanellis; astral of luck, success, power, emotional abundance and warmth, fertility, and sexual activity.

The Tazir are named after such an astral. They grow from the tail once severed. There was a time when many knew of the luck that the god’s tail would bring, and so, the god was hunted; their tail lost nearly as quickly as it grew back. It wasn’t long before the mortals found the true nature of luck, and the lack of it. Any mortal, or even semi-immortal, that lost the tail would find their luck reversed. And in seven days, they would be dead.

Of course, the mortals blamed Theofanellis; what else could they do if they refused to admit to their mistakes?

So again, they hunted the god. For the sake of their families, and their loved ones. But the god could not be killed, for astrals are not primordials.

The mortals had made many mistakes; they had assumed the god did not care about them. But they were wrong. The god did care, and they had been searching for the tails they had lost. Many had fallen out of favor with luck, and Theofanellis cared about those that had been lost. So the god let themself be hunted; they let themself be killed, all the while they stole their tails back from the mortals. The mortals panicked, of course, when they found the tails gone, but after seven long and torturous days, they were quite glad to find themselves alive and well.

Theofanellis had collected quite a few tails, and soon, the tails had regrown into the faunis now known as tazir; moth-like rabbits.
