Quartz Nahiara (a.k.a. "Q")

I met Quartz around the time I got inducted into the Mercenary Guild by Ruger. I didn't mean to intervene, but I caught her "listening" in to a conversation. She also noticed me, and it was a bit awkward at first. I asked her if she dealt in information, she said it depended on who was asking. I told her I was a nobody, a newly signed-up Merc just looking for some insight for a job I'd been given. She seemed to think that information was payment for my silence, so when I paid her as well she was quite surprised. I told her how she got her information didn't bother me; it wasn’t my business, so why would I tell anyone? Besides, good information brokers are hard to find! Then I just left.

It turns out that Ruger was aware of her already because of his position on the Council, but as I didn't ask him directly, and he knows I like to sort out my own shit, he didn't mention her, and I only found out much later that they were already acquainted. I actually didn't think I'd see her again, but she sought me out when I got back, interested in how I'd ended up using the information she gave me. We kind of bartered a relationship deal there and then. In a way, I think she wanted to keep an eye on me at first, as she's not normally "found out" in the way I did. But honestly... I just got lucky that day. She's a brilliant woman.
