Terran Leylines

Musings on the Leylines - Radomenus     We have learned so much. The leylines of the world have so many secrets to be revealed. The leylines of physical elements (and light, the creator seems to have a penchant for light) are ordered, clean lines on the map, opposite elements parallel so that their lines will never cross. Everywhere that they cross each other are what we refer to as "regular" intersections, along with where all opposite metaphysical elements cross. We refer to these as "regular" because the intersections mirror concrete para elements. "Irregular" intersections are all other intersections, eg Physical and metaphysical elements crossings, and all non opposite metaphysical elements crossings. These irregular intersections are not concrete elements but we have named them for the concepts that they might represent; as we named the first one we found as the grave we inhabit. These concepts too, have power. They are just harder to manipulate.       Once we have perfected a way to travel to these intersections, henceforth referred to as Leylands, we can hopefully find a way to harness the energy they represent for ourselves. Eternal life is within our grasp now that we are free of all other obligations. For now, we are strong enough to extend our lives with magic until we find it.       It worked! We have discovered so much. An archipelago covered in Leylands, another continent rivaling our own beyond it, and 8 more intersections to the far south for study (though the power doesn't seem to be of any note, simply known physical para elements leylands and a couple irregular Leylands from intersecting light.       The power though, is difficult to harness. It is interesting that the spirits of our home gave so easily taken to the powers of the leylines. Serimet to the fire, Blind the lake spirit to stasis, those Islander's guardian Hydra to the water. Even a band of strange creatures near the burgeoning human settlement of Cidash seem to be drawing power from the chaos line. And here we are, looking straight at the strongest sources of power in these Leylands and unable to find any way to harness it. If we do not find our solution soon, that cursed table may be our last resort to continue our work.       We found it. By random chance or possibly intelligent design we found a different answer. A Leyland is on top of one of the most important sites in this world. Powerful enchantments protect it from the outside but at the intersection of chaos and stasis is the Leyland of time. And at the Leyland of time is the origin point of this world. The latent time magic there intermingling with raw mana, locking it to the very moment of creation. The power there is ripe for the taking.       The fools! Those simple minded elves have cracked the very leylines of their continent wide open and completely altered the metaphysical landscape as a result. New lines entirely have formed, sprouting from a circular epicenter. This "Deri-dah" as they call it is affecting all leylines where the new lines intersect. On that continent itself it is completely taking over existing leylines with its destructive effects.       Not that any of this matters, what matters is that one of these new lines have intersected the time Leyland. Not only is a perfect three way intersection unheard of, the fact that it's with such a poorly understood and destructive force causes unforeseeable problems. The damage as far as we can tell renders the Leyland unusable. Our source of power has been cut off from us.       I want him to help me find a way to fix this. A way around it. But he didn't answer those questions. We were supposed to find the answer together. He left this morning. He said he found his own answer. Instead of endlessly repairing his body, he has perfected the way to move to a new one. I am too weak to chase after him. Too weak to continue our work. Maybe if I replace some of these old withered parts with what that table can give me

Geography

The leylines are special straight lines that move across Terra relating to a single element. Near those lines, the corresponding elemental power is much stronger. Where they intersect, the concepts and para-elements relating to them are stronger as well. When the Deridah was summoned by the Ancient Elves, it racked across the leylines on Aldas, manifesting the most strongly there, and affecting the Time intersection as well. The new, Deridah leylines don't follow the same rules as the others, spreading in its own way.
