Family names are usually based off of minerals or gems, though masters of a trade will often shirk their last name in favor of their profession.
Diamondskin is a famous name, as is Goldenclad.

Like the Solborn, they speak a pure and unadulterated form of Common. The wisest scholars also sometimes speak the Eldest Tongue.

As the oldest standing people, never once driven from their impenetrable city, the Ironborn are proud of their accomplishments and are a people of focus and direction.

The Ironborn greet with a handshake, its firmness is important for demonstrating one's resolve.
Common Dress code
The Ironborn often wear robes befitting monks, tied with belts of black fabric. Slashes of color and patterns are a common sight. It is also common to see hair done in intricate braids and designs.
Art & Architecture
The Ironborn create the most complex and impressive buildings of all the peoples. Their style is similar to the Gothic of the real world.
Common Customs, traditions and rituals
The Trial of Heroes is a yearly competition midway through summer in which the greatest warriors seek to prove themselves best. The Blademason and Stonemaster orders have an intense rivalry that always flashes brightly in the arena.

Newborns are given a talisman that they usually keep for the rest of their lives. It is nothing special, just Architect's crest.

To be considered a true adult, one must attain mastery over something.

Usually the dead are simply buried, but affluent families will sometimes hire a Necromancer to use the ancient power of destruction to turn the body back into the dust from whence it came.
Common Taboos
Violating the free will of another is the highest crime anyone could commit. Drinking excessively is also frowned upon.

Thakronamanduronintan Diamondskin is legendary for the length of his name, and his invention of the Iron Horse.
Erikornak Goldenclad is still considered the greatest master of swordsmanship in the history of the world, not counting immortals.
Vin the Trusted, also known as the Veil Walker, is the most revered of all. He is the only mortal to ever attain true immortality.

Beauty Ideals
The Ironborn see beauty in ideas. Wisdom is beauty.
Gender Ideals
Almost irrelevant to the Ironborn, women are considered slightly inferior due to the reproductive system incapacitating them to such a serious degree. As such, there are potions to lessen its effects.
Courtship Ideals
Two minds of equivalent or vastly different expertise will often join together for the sake of furthering knowledge, though many youths reject this idea, and there is a significant portion of the population that will choose the individual they like the best.
Relationship Ideals
A couple should be able to work and learn together, help each other achieve mastery and so become rivals. Children are taught to think deeply and carefully before taking any action, but to strike swiftly and decisively once a conclusion is reached.
