Rangers of Ash
The rangers of ash are a new branch of the Argonian military, being officially recognized about five years ago. They exist as part of a new effort to quell the demonic hordes that invade the empire from down south. They have one goal, venture into The Ashlands, establish a foothold and combat the demons from within the Ashlads themselves. To some this goal might sound easy, yet this is arguably the hardest thing the Argonian empire has ever set out to do. So difficult that few do not openly voice their skepticism.
The order’s rootes hail from the imperial province of Algh’ara, a province in the mid-south of the empire, mainly populated by Tieflings. Given that the people of Algh’ara have longs since dealt with the creatures from the Ashlands, they have developed their own way to fight the hordes. The Algh’arans train rangers ever since ancient times, before the empire aided in the defense of the southern frontier regions. As such, these rangers are well versed in hunting down monsters and patrolling contested areas. Throughout most of the empire’s past, rangers from Algh’ara have joined up with The Hunting Brigade, however, during the last two decades propositions regarding the infiltration of the Ashlands have become more frequent in the imperial capital. Given these rangers were most suited for the job according to many, including the Algh’arans themselves, it was decided to turn the ancient ranger order of the province into the Rangers of Ash.
Previous summer the first full excursion was launched into the Ashlands by the rangers. Weather or not it availed to anything is still unknown, as communication between the rangers and the border areas of the empire has seized. This may be far from conclusive evidence regarding the faith of the rangers, but it surely does not bode well.
