Golden Arcana Merc

The order of the Golden Arcana is an elite mercenary company hired only by the wealthiest of the empire. Their order consists of highly trained warriors who excel in swordcraft as well as lower-level magic. Their order also has a number of mages with them that focus on delivering support to the warriors.   Warriors are the most standard mercs of the Golden Arcana. They are versed in close-quarter combat and can cast simple spells. Each warrior is trained in two elemental aspects which differ per warrior. Warriors usually either wield a halberd or a blade and a shield. Their weapons are embued by runes that pair with their elemental magic.  

Traits

  • Pack Tactics: The Golden Arcana merc has advantage on attack rolls against another creature if at least one of its allies that isn't incapactitated is within 5 feet of the target.
  • Elemental Arcana: The Golden Aranaca warrior can cast simple spells of at most two different elements.
  • Lingering Runes: Casting a spell causes elemental energy to linger in the Golden Arcana merc's blade. Whenever The Golden Arcana merc makes a Runic Blade attack after casting a spell on its turn, it deals an additional 1d6 damage of the same damage type of the spell.
  • Trained Resolve: The Golden Arcana merc has advantage on saving throws against being Charmed or Feared and rolls to persuade or intimidate the merch are harder to succeed.
 

Spell Casting

The Golden Arcana warrior can cast spells using Charisma as their spellcasting ability and their runic blade as their arcane focus. They can cast simple elemental spells, selecting two of the following:
  • Ray of Frost (3d8) ; unlimited
  • Fire Bolt (3d10) ; unlimited
  • Lightning Bolt (3th level) ; 1 time a day
  • Eldrich Blast (3 beams) ; unlimited
  • Necro Blast (3d8 + 3d4) ; unlimited
  • Guiding Bolt (2nd level) ; 2 times a day
 

Actions

  • Multiattack: The Golden Arcana merc makes three attacks on its turn, two of which must be with its runic weapon.
  • Runic Weapon: Melee Weapon Attack: +7 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 13/15 (2d8/2d10 + 4) piercing damage. The Golden Arcana warrior strikes out with their runic weapon, dealing 1d8 slashing damage when wielding a sword and 1d10 slashing damage when wielding a halberd.
  • Shield Bash: Melee Weapon Attack: +7 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 7 (1d6 + 4) bludgeoning damage. When wielding a shield, the Golden Arcana merc bashes a creature with their shield. The creature must succeed on a Strength DC16 saving throw or be pushed back 5 feet. If the Golden Arcana warrior moves at least 15 feet in a straight line, the targeted creature has disadvantage on the Strength saving throw and is pushed back an additional 5 feet on a failed save.
  • Elemental Weapon: The Golden Arcaba merc coats their runic weapon in a magical energy for 1 minute. The type of magical energy matches one of the two spells the merc can cast. While their weapon is enhanced with magic, it deals an additional 1d8 damage. this damage matches the type of magic used to enhance the weapon. The merc can clear this enhancement as a bonus action.
