An order to approach the story that provides the most sense in each questline and does its best to align with community recommend levels but does NOT involve a walkthrough to get to those levels. As you progress, do not neglect the catacombs, caves, and secrets The Lands Between has to offer.

    A glowing golden light calls you to this land. Wake in the Chapel of Anticipation . Pay your respects to the Dead Finger Maiden and head outside. Enter the fog wall and face the Grafted Scion .
    Should you prevail, head to the graveyard, but watch your step! Either way, your fate will greet you soon.

    The guidance of grace

    Awaken, again, in a pool of water. Find your way out to the surface, and push open the doors to take your First Step. Speak with White Mask Varre and learn about the guidance of grace and of maidens. Mourn again for The Dead Finger Maiden and wonder about the woman you just saw, as if in a vision...

      Touch your hand to the golden light beside you, and let your gaze cast across, toward Castle Stormveil .

    Avoiding the Tree Sentinel for now, follow the road along the path of grace, to a small, crumbling building: The Church of Elleh Speak with KalĂ© to learn about the nomadic merchants of these lands, and buy some wares if you've any runes to spare.   Then, it's off through the woods to the north, encountering some of your first of Godrick's loyal soldiers in their surcoats of green and red.   Past the woods lie the Gatefront Ruins, where you will see your first hearse caravan carts, guarded as they rest on their way to the capital city.   Fight through to the gate, and rest. You've earned it.

    An Accord

    Speak with the woman who approaches, and meet Melina. She will offer to play the role of finger maiden for you, to guide you along with grace.   Accept her Accord, and the custody of the spectral steed Torrent. If you can, exchange runes for power, and make sure to speak until she has nothing more to say.   When you stand, she disappears, but will never be far from you. Now, you know you have more to do than follow grace: you must deliver Melina to the Erdtree in the capital city, of Lyndell.

    A funny fellow

    Spying the large troll and many soldiers guarding the path up from Stormgate (or perhaps falling to them a few times) turn around to hone your skills and gather more runes for Melina.   There is an intriguing bridge in the distance, but as you approach it, a voice cries out for assitance. Stumble around until you get close to -- a bush? Well, a talking bush is likely a trap--swing. This reveals Boc, the seamster a little demi-human with a fine cap. Listen to his story and speak with him until he offers a better reward for his freedom, from a cave down on the beach.   Then, be on your way.

    Spying quite a few soldiers along the Southern path, follow the road to the Northeast. Again, a voice calls out to you for assistance-- this time, from on high. Climb the fallen ruin and meet Kenneth Haight . He pleas for assistance with his Fort past the aptly named Mistwood to the South, and mentions Godrick with disdain.   Sensing an ally in your fight against Godrick the Grafted , you agree to assist.

    Marika, and Mists

    Though the Mistwoods lie to your south, you spy the spire of the Third Church of Marika further down the road proper, and head that way.   Inside, you find precious items and a moment of respite before you continue. Listen to Melina, as she has a quote from Queen Marika herself: The Banishment
    My Lord, and thy warriors. I divest each of thee of thy grace.
    With thine eyes dimmed, ye will be driven from the Lands Between. Ye will wage war in a land afar, where ye will live, and die.
    Rested, follow the turn in the road into the forest. A strange, branchlike apparition appears before you, and on touching it, a spirit appears, guiding you through the forest to the Mistwood Ruins.   A frightful howling and a ferociously large bear great you. Sneak, if you dare, to the cavern below, and then flee this frightful place, on your way to fulfill your agreement with Kenneth and garner his support.
