Virda

Virda is a type of alcoholic beverage, similar to beer, that's made on Epsilon Ophiuchi-2 by a company called Sandbanks Brewery.   Virda is a variety of beer that has been flavored with a local citrus fruit giving it a taste often described as a floral grapefruit.   Because Epsilon Ophiuchi-2 doesn't have wheat, or hops like they do on Earth, that made the process of making a beer-like beverage difficult for centuries. Only about 450 years ago did the Stylite family, that founded the Sandbanks Brewery finally find a way to make something similar.   A native wildflower was found to have a unique way of reproducing. There were seeds at the top of it's stalks that when they got coated by dust blown in the wind, they would begin to grow a second plant on the stalk. By harvesting the seeds right after they crack their shell to begin growing, they were able to turn this into the base of the first beers.
