Lambda Equulei

Lambda Equulei system, an F8 binary star some 264 light years from Sol in the constellation Equuleus. The primary star, called Lambda Equulei A, is a yellow-white giant 3.84 times bigger than Sol. The system has 6 planets, and a large asteroid field between the 4th and 5th planets.   The second planet, Lambda Equulei A-2 is home to the [Lambda Equuleites, commonly called Leeks by humans.   The other stars in the system
  • Small rocky planet with no atmosphere, and a very hot surface that is too close to their star to harbor life. Even those in EVA suits can only survive the heat and radiation for up to about 20 minutes
  • The third planet is a large, dense planet with a heavy gravity. The atmosphere is heavy and primarily composed from carbon dioxide, methane, and nitrogen. It has twin moons that pull on the planets plates causing frequent earthquakes. The larger moon has a moderate sized Leek settlement on it. Originally a scientific research post when they developed space flight, it now houses about 600,000 leeks.
  • The 4th planet is a gas giant. Though on the smaller end of gas giants. It measures about 0.6 jovian masses. It has a small ring composed of ice and rocks. There are 6 moons orbiting it of various sizes from 100 km across, up to 3,000km across.
  • The 5th and 6th planets are both ice giants.
The other star in the system is red-dwarf star about 235 AU from the primary star. It has only one planet orbiting it, a venus sized rocky planet with no atmosphere. There are about two dozen dwarf planets ranging from 180 to 600km across.
