Eclipse Ballistics
Eclipse Ballistics was founded in 2386 OER in an area outside Brisbane Australia. Eclipse made their name by creating the most accurate long range rifles available. Favored by several militaries around the world, Eclipse quickly became a household name for top end firearms.
Over the years, Eclipse focused on innovation. This lead to many new innovations with firearms, including the first laser rifle ever made. It weighed in at 38 pounds, and only had enough charge for 5 shots, but the innovation lead to research into smaller, and more powerful power cells.
These days, Eclipse specializes in high-tech weapons such as lasers and blasters. Their slogan is "Lights out. It's an Eclipse."
I like it, just one quest: Why is it called Eclipse “Ballistics” if they make lasers and blasters (ie non-ballistic weapons)?
HAHA That's a great point! To be honest, I created a bunch of corporations as placeholders for my game because I didn't know how it was going to go. This corporation never came up since, so I didn't revisit it. I think I'll write up some back story for their history and flush out the idea a bit more.
Here's a suggestion that could lead to some fun worldbuilding: Maybe Eclipse Ballistics could specialize in creating handheld railguns (guns which propel projectiles using magnets) and another company could make the energy weapons, and there's a rivalry between the two
