A bright G star, about 174 light years from earth, warms a half dozen planets within, or on the edges of it's habital zone. This includes the homeworld of the Parasteens, who live on the 6th planet.   It is a young system that has an accretion disc still swarming with extinction-level comets and asteroids which keeps life perilous on the planets.

Geography

The system has 6 planets, they are
  1. A small rocky world with no atmosphere and hot surface temperatures. Being at the inner edge of the habitable zone, but no atmosphere to help cool it means the surface is about 150 degrees Celsius.
  2. A larger rocky world, about twice the size of earth. It's atmosphere consists primarily of carbon dioxide and methane.
  3. A small world with a nitrogen-oxygen atmosphere. There is very little land mass on the planet except for a few thousand small islands around the equator. The deep oceans have a diverse ecosystem, though the surface only has a few amphibians and insects. No birds or mammalian life is found here.
  4. A very small gas "giant" planet. The planet is about 0.3 jovian masses, and about 25% the size of Jupiter. It's intense gravity has pulled in about a dozen satellites. the largest is about 800km across. The next largest is about 200km across, and the rest are all under 100km.
  5. A very dense rocky planet with a toxic, and acidic atmosphere. It's about 30% smaller than earth, but the gravitational pull is 1.6g.
  6. Paran, the homeworld of the Parasteen race.
