Moradin

The Lord of Crafting, also known to elves as Muaril, the Lord of Creation and Crafting. He is the patron of craftsmen and artisans across the world, being a sponsor of artists and engineers alike.   In particular, Moradin bears the reputation of being a strong proponent of order, stability, and honour, often aligning with Erathis and Pelor. This however often results in clashes between His followers, and those of Kord.

Divine Domains

As Forgelord, Moradin's relevance could seem limited to smiths, but this is far from the case as all men who create with their hands know that it is ultimately the Allhammer that is their patron.   The long and short of it, however, is that Moradin always represents creation in whatever form it may take. When worshipped as part of the dwarven pantheon, known as the The Stonelords, He is seen as a stern figure representing the application of will, and the understanding of traditions and honour.   However, when revered as Muaril of The First Kin He is seen as a minor, fickle figure, representing creativity and dreaming, and the fleeting glimpses of inspiration, if still with a certain degree of grounding in honourable application of a skill.

Holy Books & Codes

There are many creeds of Moradin that one can follow, with great regional variation depending on the trades of a region. But the dwarves of Fyrehal generally based their original worship on Him on traditions of stone-cutting and smithing. This idea of Moradin became an important part of The Divine Precept's canonization of his appearance and doctrine. For this reason, they interpret His will through the dwarven Knowings of the Furnace, a set of texts that all acolytes to Moradin must transcribe onto a work of art of their own devising.   In addition, servants of the The First Kin see Muaril as a truly unknowable god, speaking mainly of His presence being known though his servants, the divine servants "Inspiration" and "Resolve" that does appear in visions to those he favours.

Divine Symbols & Sigils

In general He can be reconized through most of the world through the symbol, the hammer and anvil encircled, though the hammer may be exchanged for other tools of creation depending on the culture. Fyrehal and The Deliberative often favour a flame as his symbol, rather than the hammer.   As Muaril he is worshipped by the depiction of a flute and sowing needle resting in a circle of roots.

Tenets of Faith

  • Meet adversity with stoicism and tenacity.
  • Demonstrate loyalty to your family, your clan, your leaders, and your people.
  • Strive to make a mark on the world, a lasting legacy. To make something that lasts is the highest good, whether you are a smith working at a forge or a ruler building a dynasty.

Holidays

The Festival of Skilled Hands and tongues takes place on the 5th to 9th of Fall's Thaw. During these five holy days the worshippers of Moradin are encouraged to ply their crafts, creating gifts for those that prove themselves to be worthy of their loyalty. Such a celebration is often celebrated in conjunction with worshippers of Dynahir, as it reflects the intent of creating beauty, as well as mastering a craft.    This festival is considered a highly personal by some communities, and a great cause for public festivity by others.

Worshippers

Those that follow Moradin are most often those that master a craft, or in case of the dwarven perspective on his worship, a focus on traditions and duty. His followers are often known for strong morals and ideals, as well as an unbreakable steely resolve.   It is however known that amongst those that reconize him as Muaril he is seen as mercurial and fickle, being an elusive and coy, if ultimately caring, being whose favour must constantly be fought for.   Among notable divine orders are:

The Hammers of Moradin

An order composed of those that serve the Allhammer in the field, marching to vanquish the evils and chaos of the world. For most part of the hammers, that are situated in the Fyrehal city of Sutres Stead is a highly organized band that rarely stay still, constantly being dispatched to hunt down evil.   In times of great trouble, the hammers are known to convene in a holy war to protect His traditions and works.
