The War of Liberation

The War of Liberation is the name given to the seven year long conflict between the Prophet (and his allies) and the native Enxetites versus the Hursan Imperial Army for control over the lands of Enxe. Officially, the conflict in a local form by Enxetite rebels had been ongoing for much of the 70 years leading up to the official declaration of war by the Prophet. The Prophet had successfully united the majority of the rebel factions along with the Enxetite priesthood and combined them with the knowledge and experience of Ntiklon, who had been a general in the defunct Kingdom of Noki for many years.    The Prophet's forces were concentrated in the highlands and tributaries of the Fiyek in the south and west of the country initially. They had successfully seized the city of Skubak, an ancient Enxetite capital located a ways upriver from the confluence of the main tributaries of the Fiyek. The city, an ancient stronghold of the priesthood, helped lend a strong sense of legitimacy for the Prophet's faction in the face of Hursan rule. The next year of battles was focused on wrestling the territories of Upper Enxe (the rest of the highlands and upper river) from Hursan control. Support from the neighboring lands of the Muttyol-illani further south alleviated supply concerns due to lacking control over the coast. The next two years followed the back and forth efforts of both Imperial and Rebel factions in trying to take and hold the territorial capital of Xomahen roughly halfway up the river to the coast. As one of the largest cities in the country, the lords of Xomahen were able to play off both sides before a daring infiltration raid by the Prophet's elite troops successfully place the city under his banner. Following the the repulsion of an attempting siege of the city, the Rebel forces marched steadily up the river taking every fort and settlement along the way. This March to the Sea took just over a year as constant raids, counter sieges and other efforts by Imperial forces to stymie the Rebel advance forced them to thoroughly secure every inch of ground taken...
