The Obelisk of the Prophet

The Obelisk of the Prophet is the commemorative monument that was commissioned and built during the reign of the third King of the Realm, Ntiklon Giglifse (who is the grandson of the first king Ntiklon Xavnus). King Ntiklon Giglifse ordered the construction of the Obelisk to commemorate the first full century after the birth of the Prophet. While the Prophet is revered across the Kingdom, King Ntiklon Giglifse is well known to particularly revere the Prophet and was an extremely strong proponent of His beliefs. He was so strong in his conviction, he became the only Ntiklon monarch to fully adopt the monotheism of the Prophet personally.   The Obelisk was built in the entrance to the Royal Quarter. Before His passing, the Royal Quarter was called the Prophet's Quarter and His tomb lies under said district. The Obelisk itself is a massive pillar of stone with each side covered in reliefs depicting the life of the Prophet, His deeds and His ascension into the heavens after passing. The Obelisk was unveiled in full after roughly 5 years of delicate and dedicated work. Its reliefs are lavish with detail and they are outlined with gold leaf. The project was quite expensive (costing many thousands of gold mfosen coin) but became a well loved monument to the spiritual Father of the Kingdom. The Obelisk alone acts as a tourist magnet, but is even more so as it often is combined with the Prophet's Mausoleum.   The Obelisk itself has also become something of a symbol of the Monarchy and while the Palace is generally the preferred metonym for the Royal government, it is not unheard of for someone to call the Royal government the Obelisk in casual speech. The area around the Obelisk has been turned into a small temple space and is part of the only areas in the Royal Quarter open to the public.
