Enxetite Mourning Colors

An old tradition among the Enxetites is to wear gold or yellow as their color of mourning. This was first started in the early Dynastic period to mimic the gold clothing and sarcophagi used by the ancient kings among the regular and noble populace alike. The color was also associated with the idea of wishing good luck and fortune for the deceased in the afterlife.   In contrast, the Pagavenur have preferred to wear dark blue to black clothing for their mourning wear. For them, this was a way to honor the dead moving through the rivers of the underworld (and as an homage to the mighty ocean). With the formation of the Kingdom, dark blue became the Royal Family's preferred color of mourning but with a different connotation. In the modern idea, the dark blue is associated with the blue of the great Fiyek. It is a metaphor saying that the dead will pass down the mother river just as the living do. It also is a sign of strength, for the Fiyek brings food and health to the living and it will do so for the dead.   Officially, dark blue is the color used by the Royal Family and Monarchs to signify mourning but no hard rule is place on the rest of the populace. Most people have adopted the Royal practice, particularly since it has become tradition for the dead monarch's body to travel up the Fiyek from the coast all the way to Skubak before being taken inland for final burial in the Royal Necropolis in the Western Desert. For many, wearing yellow or gold to mourn is a sign of being strongly traditional and conservative. The native priesthood continues to wear yellow or gold to mourn but has adopted wearing a blue sash or small item to honor the tradition of their kings.

Really appreciated the pronunciation guide! Love the way in which you traced the history and development of mourning colours among the Enxetites. Especially contextualizing why yellow or gold has become seen as traditional but demonstrating what has replaced it. I was a bit curious around the timeline of this all, how long ago was the early dynastic period and when did royal blue become the new fashion?
