Thinis

by Dall-E Mini
The legendary city of Khemit, where gods ruled the (known) world. Towering buildings, temples, and wonders for an estimated half a million people. the streets were paved in white marble with great brass lamps illuminating the night. Great towers with scientific instruments gazed and measured the heavens. monumental statues of the gods were seated in front of their accomplishments accepting the offering of the people. The engineering feats to bring water for drinking, sanitation was an enormous project. And then there was the Magic. powered by black sand obelisks, great machines moved, providing heat during the night and cool air during the day. The palace was bigger than life with a great throne fit only for a god. When the gods left, they left a god-king. blessed with power from the gods and given knowledge and (hopefully) wisdom to rule in their stead.

The first king had his architects carve out a human-sized throne from the god's throne, so he may be properly seated. For a time, the kingdom prospered under the God-Kings' rule. But with each pharaoh, the monuments to their rule became more elaborate. Treasures were taken into their tombs; some even took to taking some of the God's creations for their own monuments. After three thousand years, the great god wonders began to fail, and machinery broke down.
The Ancient Lich Har-Par-Krat, Vizier of Yult the first and final emperor of Ingabresh,

Pharaoh An Hepsu XI had no plans on dying, wanting to be immortal like the gods. No one understood his plans until it was too late. He sacrificed many artifacts in order to gain immortality. He ruled for three hundred years as the Tamraset River dried up, turning the fertile heartland of Khemit to dust. As the sands arrived at the walls of Thinis, his Gaffe finally rose up to defeat him.
Thinis didn't survive much longer. With what knowledge the Architects of Ma'at had, they created sun barges to travel this new desert, but without water and dunes covering what was farmland, Thinis was evacuated in -1710 IR. Three grueling years as the new pharaoh tried to find a solution. Today, Thinis is long forgotten. Everyone recognizes Elephantine as the capitol of Khemit.
