Hieroglyphs
As the story goes, even before the first dynasty in -1518 I.R. the gods walked on earth. Their words were written in symbols on the mountains and monuments. These symbols invoked great mystical power, so ofcourse only high priests and pharohs could read them. of them, only a handful attempted to write them. there is no direct translation of Hieroglyphs to
Hieratic script as any edict was handed down from
The Pharaoh to Vizier to some clerk verbally.
Golden Age
-1518 to -580 I.R.
The Pharaohs understood Hieroglyphs and harnessed their power in architecture, combat, and if the legend is true, brought water to the desert.
SunSet on Hieroglyphs
From -579 to 1 I.R.
The use of Hieroglyphs in stoneworks became less frequent. political unrest between houses, led to hoarding of knowledge and eventually untimely deaths to a few who knew how to read them.
Extinction of Heiroglyphs
The last known use of Hieroglyphs is in -350 I.R. with the death of
Pharaoh Sekh-pa-Mefer III. The Architect of his tomb,
Imkesh died a year before the tomb was finished.
By Year 1
The knowledge of Heiroglyphs was lost and the great empire was in decline. When the Hyboreans came to occupy Khemit, only the
Obelisk of Kings in the capitol had visible Heiroglyphs. This was destroyed in 10 I.R. as the Hyboreans pulled down the obelisk into the river and put in a puppet ruler.
