Buhen

Buhen is one of the largest southern cities of Khemit. It was built into the canyons with defensive walls and a great gate blocking the most direct land route into Khemit. It is home to primarily Ptahmenu clans and artisans. While not the capitol of Khemit, it's importance to the kingdom and Libynos in general has been the dedicated craftsmen and engineered technology in working Gold.

History

In around -100 Imperial Year (Ancient Khemetian period), Buhen was built as a fortress protecting the kingdom's southern border, by Pharaoh An Hepsu VII, also known as Pharaoh of Blades. It was near here, 20 years later that The Pharaoh died in fighting the invading Ostrogoths. While the Ostrogoths won the battle, they did not breach the Gate of Fort Buhen.

100 Imperial Year (Late Khemetian period), Buhen fell to the Hyborean Hegemony. Much of the temples and burials were destroyed. the outer wall fell into disrepair. Displaced Ptahmenu came here to rebuild after the war. The Hyboreans recognized their talent in gold work and started Khemitian currency here. Today, Libynos kingdoms come here seeking audience with the clans in designing new coins.

The Shining Heart of Gold

Generations of Ptahmenu have built up their skills in white smithing. Gold is not just one word here, but a whole unique language detailing the nuances of gold and working it. From white to green and from native to ketem, the people of Buhen know their gold. Great machines can pound gold thinner than parchment or grind it so fine that it changes color in sunlight. Buhen smiths can also mix it with other minerals to increase tensile strength or quickly weave threads together to make golden bolts for clothing.

Marketing

Trade is bustling here as raw material flows in with contracts for statues, coin, and jewelry. For the casual adventurer, gold jewelry can be brough here to be fixed or created for a modest price assuming the smith has time for small work. As the clans have been here for almost three thousand years, they do like to reminisce on appraising older gold artwork and for the right price, they may be able to tell you when it was crafted and by which clan.
