Ranna's dealings with the Clans north of Echen Crag lead to the two of them meeting, and many were surprised when Ranna brought an Antari brigand to court as his bride fifteen years ago.

Personal history
The former leader of a ragtag band of raiders that pillaged unprotected communities to feed their bellies. Shasta earned the mantle of leadership by allegedly drugging the original leader and murdering him in his sleep. No official accounts exits, however.
Since arriving in the realm of Banteavan politics, Shasta has remained a quietly glowering presence in the Duskmoor. She offers little in the way of comforts to visiting guests and dignitaries, treating every traveller with suspicions and disdain. The only person she seems to hold any favour for is her husband Ranna, though the two rarely appear in the same room together.
