Personal history

THE SPIDER-QUEEN’S FORGOTTEN SON   The life Lavtiz has lived isn’t the life he had envisioned, nor is it the life those that knew of his kind would have predicted. As a Drow elf, his entire life has been one of sorrow and prejudice. Everywhere he has visited has been tinged with a hatred towards him for things he has never done.   Lavitz grew up in the ghettos of the capital city of Renada. His parents were former slaves that had escaped their captors and headed north to the kingdom of Avalor; a kingdom filled with rumors of bing more open to those of different races. For the most part, that notion was correct. Other kingdoms would have put his parents in prison or had them executed for the belief that they were agents of the Spider-Queen, sent to destroy them. But in Avalor, while not killed, they were still regulated to the lowest members of society. His father, Varis, worked as a ship hand on the docks for the capital, where he hid his face so as to work through his meager existence. His mother, Thia, worked in the back of a seamstress shop that was owned by a friendly halfling that took pity on her. Between the two of them, they were able to carve out a modest living that to most would be poverty but to them it meant freedom. Freedom from the Spider-Queen, Lolth, and freedom from her teachings. Though they were cursed by her features, they could finally live the life they wanted to.   As with most happy couples, soon the cries of a child arrived in their small household; a child they would name Lavitz. Fearing for their child, Varis and Thia raised Lavtiz in their small home, rarely letting him leave. They raised him differently than others of his kind - never showing him the teachings of Lolth, but rather that of the gods Tyr, Helm, and Torm. Lavitz was a bright, young Drow who, from an early age until present day, knew nothing else than what his parents instilled in him. His mind as a Drow was untainted from those of his brethren. Sadly, on the fifth year after this birth, tragedy struck. His father had stopped an altercation at the docks between a human and a dwarf which resulted in his mask falling off, revealing his Drow nature. The workers immediately revolted and wanted him gone. Even though the dock owner was sympathetic, he did not want to cause any issues and fired him. On his way home that evening, Varis was attacked and stabbed by unknown assailants. He made it to his family’s home and died on the footsteps of the door, where Thia and Lavitz found his body later on that night. Thia tried her best to continue on after her husband’s murder but the income wasn’t enough to keep their home. Being a widowed female drow did not leave her many options. Left to fend for herself and her son on the streets, Thia turned to prostitution to supplement their income. She found employment at one of the largest brothels, Vixens Heart , as she was exotic and the clientele would pay more for that. Lavitz would continue to learn various subjects from the other ladies at the brothel while his mom was employed. All of Lavit’z memories of his time at Vixen’s Heart were nothing but happy ones as all the women doted upon him as if he were one of their own. He also always had a warm spot to sleep in by the communal fireplace. Lavitz had a home there until his fourteenth year when his mother was murdered after refusing service to a Noble. Sadly, no one cares for the lives of prostitutes so Thia’s murder went unpunished. For the first time in his short life, the seeds of hatred began to course through his heart.   Mother Kathra, the dwarf owner of the brothel, allowed him to stay provided he help out in the kitchens. There was where he first learned to fight, learning to fist fight from the bouncers and becoming proficient with knives from the head cook. His talents continued to grow as he engaged in fights with those who got too handsy with the ladies. He continued to grow stronger and taller, bigger than most of his kind. He left the kitchens and became the head of security for the brothel, enforcing peace and making sure the ladies, who he viewed as his mothers, were safe. He, however, never forgot the Nobel who killed his mother and was plotting his murder; she would be avenged no matter what. On the night he planned for the murder, he went to the local chapel to pray. He prayed to Tyr that justice would be served that night by his hands. He prayed to Tyr that his righteousness would flow throw Lavitz so he could do what must be done. He prayed to Helm to protect him from harm for he felt what he was doing was right. After a lengthy prayer, he set out under the cover of darkness across the river to the affluent neighborhood that the Nobel lived in. He stealthily and quietly made his way into the manor and into the main room where the Nobel slept. With hatred in his hatred, he pulled his dagger and held it above the man. Lavitz had every intent to kill the man but when the time came, he couldn’t. He knew inside of him what he planned on doing was wrong and that it would never heal the hurt that was in his heart. He couldn’t, however, let this man get away without any repercussions. He quickly wrote on a piece of parchment that he knew what the man did and that the Spider-Queen doesn’t forget. He instructed the Nobel to give money to the brothel so that their quality of life goes up and followed with the threat that he will visit him again if he doesn’t. He stabbed the dagger into the note on the wall above his head so that he would find it. With that, Lavitz vanished into the night, hatred leaving his heart for good.   His time as the head bouncer at Vixen’s Heart allowed him to put aside a good amount of money. Even though they were sad to see him go, his family at the brothel threw him a large farewell party. They gifted him with his first longsword that he named Thia’s Lament after his mother and his dagger that he named Twig, which was his Dad’s nickname. The most important gift that he received was a baby Velociraptor which he named Rodrigo. Mother Kathra bought that herself as a thank you for keeping the family safe after all those years. With that, Lavitz, with Rodrigo on his shoulder, set out for the northern town of Heaven’s Heart at the beginning of his thirty seventh year.   Lavitz’s arrival in Heavens Heart was at night for he knew that being a Drow elf would surely cause a stir. He headed straight to the great cathedral with the intent to devout himself to the church. Lavtiz wanted to make amends to the gods Tyr, Helm, and Torm for harboring that hatred in his heart for so long. It was here where Lavitz met the High Priest Astronoph , a Deva, who believed that Lavtiz’s talent would be best served amongst the Paladins of the Cathedral. He wanted Lavitz to become a beacon for all of his kind so that they know there is life outside of the Spider-Queen and that they do not have to grow in the dark. Inspired by this, Lavitz, alongside his faithful companion Rodrigo, began his training. It was there he met his fellow apprentice, Fo'Gurn the Brass Dragonborn, who was the first person to treat him with respect and without disdain towards his kind. They bonded and pushed each other to become better. As Lavitz would not be content until mastering all weaponry, he trained day and night with Fo’Gurn. To attain the level of High Paladin of the Order, he took a vow of silence and solitude for 90 days by standing at the entrance to the tomb of the unknown at the foot of the Black Stair.   His life would take a drastic turn on the eve of the beginning of his forty eighth year. The wild elves from the Forest of the Fey attacked a nearby village. In response, Lavitz was sent forth to bring order back between the villagers and the wild elves. He was ambushed along the way and brought into the woods. Believing that he was an abomination to the world, the wild elves performed a blood ritual on him and cursed him. Since the Drow prefer the night as its easier on their skin, they decided to turn that against him. Henceforth, whenever a full moon appears, he will transform into a creature; not a fearsome werewolf, but rather a cute dog. The wild elves wanted Lavitz to know that to them, he is nothing but a pet. With that, they released him and went back to the wood, content in the thought that they wouldn't be followed. Back at the cathedral, no one could reverse the magic that was used no matter how much they tried. Knowing what it felt to have that much anger in your heart and how easy it is to lose ones way, Lavitz forgave those that cursed him. He knew that’s what happened - that the wild elves had simply lost their way and it was his mission to bring them back from being led astray and to ease the anger not only in their hearts, but in all the hearts out there. There was a better way for people to live and Lavitz wanted to show the world that he was living proof of that.
