Brigthalda (Bree - thall - dah)

The brigthalda is a flowering plant that blossoms on the fifth night of the Woodland Spring Festival, centered around the 5th of Iwea. The flower glows bright neon of various hues and lets off a lighting of 5-feet in radius, and with ten or more brigthalda blooming in an area, they let off a lighting of 10-feet in radius. It can only be found in the Iki Gardens of the Verdoral Kingdom.

Basic Information

Anatomy

Brigthalda is a strange plant that has grown in the Iki Gardens for as long as any Verdorian can remember. They are described as growing up to a foot tall with a six-inch width containing four brightly-colored petals that as they age, open up further and droop down as "petal leaves" before falling off. Only four petal leaves can be on the flower at a time.   There is a single feathery petal ball located within the petals, and if these petals are plucked from the flower, the seeds can be harvested for next year's planting season. Nine tiny bulbs on thin stalks grow up from the feathery petal ball and act like feelers for insects to feed upon.   Along the stem are seven leaves that are used for the milky sap.

Biological Cycle

The plant begins to grow around late Osix and the petals sprout on the first of Iwea, or the first of the Woodland Spring Festival. By the fifth night of Iwea or final night of the festival, the flower blooms, revealing the lustrous neon petals. For the rest of spring and summer, the flower stays in bloom. By the time autumn arrives, the seeds located in the fluffy

Additional Information

Uses, Products & Exploitation

The flowers are not used for anything other than to look at. If the seeds of the flower are stolen and planted in soil that does not reside from the Iki Gardens, the tiny bulbs at the top of the flower will release a toxic gas that can be harvested for poisons, but only if kept in a controlled environment as to not cause the invasive spread of the species.   The flower contains a milky sap that oozes from the brigthalda's leaves. For centuries, the plant has been nurtured by the Verdorians and they use a special harvesting system of making little slits in the leaves to drain the sap and bottle it in vials to be later made into an ointment of healing burns, whether they were caused by acid or fire.   The seeds are also a cyanide poison if chewed.

Geographic Origin and Distribution

They can only be found in the Iki Gardens. However, some tourists have attempted to sneak a bulb or two out and tried to plant it at their home only for the plant to grow and bloom, but not have the glow effect while emitting an invisible toxic gas in a 10-foot radius.
