The Penumbral Lowlands

Geography

The beautiful realm of Hysh is captured well in the Crystalline Fields. Hills and moutains of almost perfectly carved stone dot the landscape while radiant beams of light illuminate every corner here. The brilliance of which comes mainly from the Diamond Apex, the tallest mountain of the lands. Its peaks can be seen to flash with awe inspiring brilliance from hundreds of leagues away. Since the shattering though, the Diamond Apex has been flung far across the realmscape, tearing through the land like a jagged blade. Shards of the mountain have created dozens of floating islands and the rippling explosion has raised vast mountain ranges.   Without the Diamond Apex mountain, the lands have become far dimmer and far more sinister than ever before as devious spirits and malicious haunts desecrate the once beautiful region. The fields are now known as the Penumbral Lowlands, a strange mixture of both light and shadow.

Localized Phenomena

Yet despite the aesthetic appeal of this place, few dare to venture let along settle within this area. For the shining lights do not seem to fade away with the daylight, but lingers on as a permanent beacon. It drives out darkness, even in the deepest of caverns and mortal creatures may be driven mad by the sleep deprivation this may cause. Not only this but the scintillating beams of light may even become hostile, searing eyes and flesh as if a lancet of concentrated force.   As some have learned, the beauty of these lands should be appreciated only from afar.

History

The diamond apex was corrupted by Vadulus in a dark ritual. This caused a great fissure to crack the diamond apex and shattered the great peak into many shards. It's fragments created the Diamond Dust Archipelagos, and the surrounding lands rippled out like great jutting fingers into the seas. The great crystalline crown of the mountain tore across the landscape, creating a great scar upon the land before finding its resting place near the Beastland Wastes.
