Personal history

Born into a relatively poor family in Ghyran, Natalya was gifted with great control over jade magics from an early age. So much so that a priest from a temple offered to take in the child to guide her in further developing her abilities and paying her family well in compensation. However, she quickly discovered that not all gentle faces bore good intentions.
After years of being held against her will at the whim of the priest that had essentially bought her, a turning point arrived in an unexpected form. An undead horde tore through the city surrounding the temple, quickly overwhelming the local garrison and ruling house and the city was soon subjugated by a new presence. The vampire lord Arcturus strode into the temple with several skeletal guards as the old priest hid behind the child.
Seeing her with unblinking eyes as if understanding her entirety within a moment, the vampire offered her a choice for the first time in her life: she could return to her life in the temple undisturbed or she could grasp at freedom if she had the will to take it. Pushing herself away from the priest, she looked back at him as she manipulated the flow of life magic around her to move the skeletal warriors as they surround the old screaming priest.
