The Howls of Stragglerpeak

A jagged solitary mountain jutting out from the midst of The Stragglerpeak Forest in The Central Highland Region of The Kaldari Highlands , The Stragglerpeak Mountain is regarded by locals and travelers alike with a fearful apathy. No same being has need to travel up the mountain's formidable slopes - and is therefore at no risk of encountering or angering whatever twisted sprits make the mountain peak it's home.   Still though, travelers are quick to pass beyond the mountain's view when travelling the roads east of The Port City of Rystanburg, and even hardened foresters insist something feels "off" about the woods near the mountain's roots. While spiritual possession of mountainous regions is not unheard of in Alwaus, inquires made by Lord Paramount Koslov and The Pantheon Of The Goddess  after the formation of The Eternal Empire have turned up any evidence of spiritual possession.   Still though, every year or so another strange disappearance is added to the rising toll attributed to the cursed mountain, but whether these disappearances are truly due to angry spirits or more mundane dangers is known only to those who have vanished.

Historical Basis

Rumors surrounding the mountain and the forest around it have persisted since before the earliest days of human settlement in The Central Highland Region of Kaldaria, with the farrow in the area still passing a semblance of spoken history about great hunters who chased prey up a solitary mountain in the the highlands. The farrow stories have been corrupted through countless retelling to the point that diving any truth from them is impossible, but the farrow also tell stories of angry spirits attacking those who ascend the mountainside.    Whether the Kaldari settlers learned the dangers of the mountain first hand or merely built upon the superstition of the land's former inhabitants is likely the key to understanding the truth of Stragglerpeak Mountain.
