The Port City of Rystanburg

A wooden city that serves as the central port, and capital of the Central Kaldari Highlands.

Demographics

Primarily a kaldari human city, however it's nature as a cold water port means it sees a frequent influx of other races and cultures. As the regional capital of The Central Highland Region (Kaldaria), it also has some direct representatives present at most times, with approximately a dozen Alvain being present throughout the city on an average day. (This number of course fluctuates with both season and events.) There is also a small district in the city's east that is home to a small community of vermyn, that largest known community in any city in The Highlands of Kaldaria.

The city is split into several districts, each split into three district sub-cities : The Upper City, The Lower City, and The South City. The vast majority of industry, trade, and population reside in the lower city, which stretches north of the river up until it nestles under the city of the cliff that divides the city horizinotally. South of the river, is the The South City, or simply "The Southgate District" which is significantly less populated and therefore quieter than the rest of the city. The upper city has a smaller industrial focus, but instead serves as the financial and cultural districts of the city, and as such is prominently more upper class with lower city works frequently denied permission to enter the upper city without permit.

Government

Since it's founding, the city of Rystanburg has been ruled over by a noble family - who in then serves a king - in a fashion similar to the rest of Kaldaria. As the largest city in the north of Kaldaria, Rystanburg has always served as a territorial capital in one sense or another, collecting taxes from not just it's natural demesne, but also from the small cities that have risen and fallen in the lifetime of the city. As of 190 AoE, the cities of ____________, ____________, and ________________ all pay some form of taxes to Rystanburg's lord - however the percentage ultimately retained by the city itself has been in steady decline since the formation of the empire.
