Session Six of "The Horrors Beyond the Crypt!"

General Summary

Upon the start of the session, at around 8am on May 27th, 3168 Era of Blood, Bianca and the party checked out the bounty board outside of the Ugly Badger. There, they saw many different kinds of quests that they could partake in, however, one that drew their attention was one of a goblin encampment nearby. The bounty stated the following:    "Goblin Encampment: A goblin encampment has appeared in the Western part of town across the ravine. They've been there for days and don't seem to be aggressive, but we can't be so sure. Find out what they're doing -- if they're a threat, please dispatch them. 5 gp per goblin slain, contact Syllia Aravyre at Dawnbury Town Hall."   The party went to the town hall to discuss the details with Syllia, an Elven woman. They ended up agreeing upon 5 Gold pieces per Goblin slain, plus and additional 5 with proof of destruction. The group immediately heads out through the West gate of Dawnbury. But before doing so, the clerk at the town hall gave them each a health potion to prepare them of what may come. They set off for the encampment, finding it in a clearing a few miles out of town. They arrive and observe the Goblins for a little bit. They notice that the Goblins are a lot more civilized than most they've seen. The Goblins appear to be making a tiny settlement, with fences lining the perimeter and tents inside it. The party tries to come up with a plan to approach them, however, William decides to approach them before the party can finish making up their mind. A Goblin scout in a makeshift watchtower notices William walking up to the camp and shoots a warning shot in front of him at his feet. He tries talking to them, but to no avail, as he doesn't understand Goblish. The other two approach but no understanding is happening when suddenly a Bugbear comes from a large tent on the opposite end of the 'town.'    This Bugbear is able to speak in broken Common to the group. His very simple language understanding still allows the party to get an idea of what he's saying. They try to talk to him and explain what they are doing. He appears to be no threat and he tells them what the Goblins are trying to do. The Bugbear offers the party some mushrooms he picked. They are the Desperella Mushrooms, a known toxic foragable for humans. Bianca declines and informs the Bugbear that they can only accept gifts that won't kill them, so he obliges and offers some boar meat, stewing in a pot. Kimball and Bianca both eat it, experiencing extreme spiciness. The Bugbear tries to give Bianca a bottle of pale yellow fluid. She's unable to determine what it is, so Kimball tastes it, and declares that it is Goblin Piss. They then ask for water, which the Bugbear obliges, taking them to a stream nearby. The party recognizes that this behaviour is uncommon among Goblins. They appear to be civil and actually friendly. They continue talking with him, eventually learning that his name is Glorx. He tries to say the party's names, however, ends up calling William, Will, Bianca, Bean, and Kimball, Ball. They establish an alliance and become friends, as Glorx put it. Bianca also clarifies that these Goblins aren't allies with other Goblins that work with the Skeleton Warriors of Yharm. Glorx takes them to another tent and shows them the Goblin's plans. There is a map of Dawnbury and makeshift carvings of Goblins. He shows the party that he wants to be friends with Dawnbury, the nearby town that our party came from. The group agrees to escort Glorx to show the town that they are friendly Goblins and so that nothing happens to Glorx when approaching the town.    They leave for the town and the guards see them and draw their weapons. Bianca manages to persuade the guards and get them to lower their weapons. She explains what is going on and they ask the guards to go get Melaina Corke, the Dawnbury Town Official. Melaina comes out with a guard escort and is given a gift from Glorx, a rudimentary carving of a Bugbear. The story of what happened so far touches her heart and she agrees that their behaviour is strange. She is escorted by the party to the Goblin encampment, seeing there that the Goblins are friendly and all that. The woman sees for herself that they are more advanced and civil than other Goblins. Glorx lets them inside his tent and offers everybody 'gifts.' One of the guards tries the boar meat and, even though it was really spicy, enjoyed it. Melaina explains to Bianca that what they've done is revolutionary, as Goblins have never acted like this before, at least to her knowledge. She informs them that they will send an ambassador to the Goblin camp and will try to remain allies with them. They also discuss payment, and instead of doing 5gp per Goblin slain, she is going to give them 150gp, 50 for each member, and will also give them a Dawnbury Discount Card, allowing them to stay at the inns for free, as well as buy anything in town for half off, when presenting the card. The party heads back to town and obtains their goods from the Town Hall. It is now around 1PM on May 27th, 3168 Era of Blood, only a few hours have passed for this whole quest. The party then ponders on doing another bounty. This is where we paused for now.
