CC:Session26: Message Received Report

General Summary

The session began with the party surrounded by Seraph troops sent by The Emissary, who demanded their surrender before the Seraph fleet arrived in three weeks. On the corpse of one of the lackeys, Mellow and Boots discovered a small device that, when activated with Dr. Amara's device, transported them into a future where the Seraph had already won and taken over the city.

After defeating the lackeys, the party regrouped on Vox's starship laboratory, Stargazer, to plan their next move. They split up to meet with potential allies, with Otto Keisler and Mellow paying off Casmos' debts in exchange for control of his casino, The Calypso. They also met with Raven, the vampiric leader of the city's new police force. Vox and Gene met with Kasula Miayra, the former death-queen of the Sun Elves, while Dart and Boots met with Cobalt, the ally of the recently departed Carbide.

During their week off to heal, the party engaged in various activities. Otto met a mysterious figure who agreed to give him information on how to weaponize Pathos, Tree of Hope, but first he had to take out a space station that was collecting debris from the destroyed world of Roria. Dart researched Dr. Amara's device and gained several clues to how it works, including its connection to a larger network of similar devices created by Dr. Amara. Boots studied the disk left by Carbide and gained access to its files, while Vox searched for the last contact of Dr. Amara and discovered clues about Dimitri, the explorer who searches for lost technology.

Vox learned that Dimitri was last seen exploring the treacherous Shimmering Caves, which are said to hold rare and powerful lost technology. Dimitri also had an interest in the ancient history and culture of the sun elves and may have visited the Sun Elf Archives, which hold an extensive collection of artifacts and records. The Kar Vocruz a heavily guarded site of important sun elf rituals and ceremonies, may have also been of interest to Dimitri.

Following up on Otto's lead and stepping through the rift-gate onto Roria, they discovered an ancient temple of science, where a device was being developed to harness the power of a crystal to terraform the planet and make it more habitable. Although the temple was destroyed, parts of the device may still be salvageable and usable with the right knowledge and equipment. This discovery could attract other groups or factions interested in the power of the crystal and the temple's technology.

Vox also met Kaida, a native Fire Genasi, during their investigation. When Kaida ran, Vox knocked her out and collected a sample of her genome.
