CC: Session 8: Reality is Merely an Illusion

General Summary

Boost was once again visited by Ghost. They were able to give him an antitoxin to slow the fungal spread, but not enough to cure it. They provided Boots with a data chip showing the location of a curative, the only problem is that it was in the vault of Tagera Group HQ.

After a series of taunts, the party met face to face with Tano herself. Broken and bloody from the day's battles, they did their best to talk themselves out of trouble (though wild screaming was involved). With Cinran observing over Carbide's shoulder, they were offered a simple deal by Tano: sign a contract with her or "take the risk of continuing down separate tracks". As a gesture of goodwill, she left the party a thousand credits with the promise of much more to come.

Concerned about Tano's mention of The Regeneration Conservatory and Titus Orman's current investigation, the party headed to Ring 6: Plague Borough. Upon reaching the park, the party was greeted by Titus Orman and Chris Cromwell. The two bickered about happenings in the area and Chris suggested: "all was good man" since he had sent his student Hollow in to investigate.

The discussion was interrupted as Spark teleported into the room. She explained that Hagith was making a final play to "resurrect him" and that "Malae couldn't stop him this time". She expressed being on the hunt for a parasite called The Mangler active in the area. She asked Axe to handle the situation.

Carbide moved deeper into the area and found a ghostly visage of a woman (Requiem) who wailed about her love and how Frost couldn't have his revenge on Tano.

The party returned to The Blacksite and rested for the night.

The following morning, the party awoke to a bang at the door. A distraught Acid explained that her party went wrong and that Crumbs was missing. People think she is involved but she had no memory of the events.

Convinced that Crumbs had been taken by The Recruiter, the party went to Danom's Hall of Holograms in search of rescue. Tagging along with a tour of the facility, mass suggestion overtook Boots, Mellow, and Carbide. After genetic testing, people began to disappear and the party moved onward.

Reaching the hologram hall, they found info on Feris the Renewer, The Pathfinder, Tano, and Danom.

Pressing into the movie hall, Axe discovered a secret door and Vox was attacked by an intellect devourer. In the battle that ensued, Boots was wisped off by Danom (on a magic segway), Crumbs was found (behaving quite oddly), and several guard were killed.

As things began to calm and Boost wandered off into the darkness, a voice came over the intercom. "Do not worry, this is The Recruiter speaking. Your friend is in good hands. Leave everything to me."
