The White Rose

Written by Intern Heron on 10/06/1514 and kept up to date.
The Coven of the White Rose is a group of vampires who believe that both vampires and non-vampires can coexist without unecessary bloodshed. Unlike the majority of vampiric covens who thrive on hunts and domination over the other races, the White Rose conducts their group with an ideal of mutual benefit. The races they are protecting, mostly Humans, will give them a small amount of blood to sustain them, while the White Rose will give them protection from any threats.

History

Origins

The origin of this particular coven is quite secretive. However, it is rumored that the vampire who created this coven was known as a protector, of sorts. They gave immortality through vampirism to the beings they were most caring for, keeping them for eternity. As such, the act of turning someone into a vampire is seen as ceremonial or as a vow to this particular group.

Important Figures

  • Sullivan of the White Rose: He is the leader of the White Rose. He is described as a very charismatic person, and loves a good gossip, especially one about relationships. He is quite talkative and likes meeting new people as he is easily bored with mundane vampire meetings, which makes him quite annoying to deal with when it comes to serious matters.

Culture

The White Rose is well known for being the type of vampires that enjoy a good party. In such, they created a vampiric wine specifically design for party uses. According to adventurer Vittorino's report, the wine tasted sweet and strong. After drinking it, he felt warm and excited to be around people, as he was charmed by them. To him, everyone around him was more attractive and he felt more inclined to be with people.
The Steamshop managed to get a sample from the loot the adventurers received after their mission. After analysis, the wine was imbued with arcanic properties allowing vampires to charm others if they drink it, and allowing the non-vampires to potentially be charmed by them instead. An interesting weapon that empowers vampires or weakens the others depending on who drinks it.   Still following Vittorino's report, he mentioned that the White Rose actually help the god Lathander in one of his crusades a few centuries ago by allowing sanctuary to him in their grounds. This information needs to be checked as it is quite uncertain it is truthful. The God Lathander is not someone who would be spending times with undead, let along vampires.

Influence

Controversy among vampires

This particular coven is often mocked at by other vampiric covens, as they are seeing the White Rose as weak and utterly idealistic. The vampires of the White Rose are not embracing what it is to be a vampire to their eyes, as they do not hunt. Instead, they make arrangements with people which is seen as below what they are supposed to be.   Whispers circulate among their critics, suggesting that the White Rose’s pacifism is not a choice born of morality but of necessity. Some claim the coven is simply incapable of hunting or fighting properly, their members unskilled in the arts of combat and survival. To these detractors, the White Rose is see as a failure to live up to the very essence of vampirism.

Current Status

Due to the way they work, the vampires of the White Rose are rapidly expanding. It is potentially due to the fact that the races being protected are allowing themselves to turn into vampires, and therefore bringing protection for their loved ones. It is also theorised that vampires are leaving their previous coven for this one as they may be drawn to a more stable or peaceful group.   According to Patron Magnus, their expansion could become quite problematic if they continue at that pace. Patron Magnus has mentioned that he might have to do something about it in the future.

Relationship with the Guild

After the event of the mission labeled Knocking on Hell's Door, the adventurers group sent have made a connection with the White Rose, namely by meeting Sullivan himself. It has been mentioned that adventurer Vittorino and adventurer Jacen are the ones who have mostly been communicating with him, and they seem to have gotten his favours, especially Jacen. It's important to mention that they have not brought the Guild's name directly, according to the reports. The White Rose are not aware that these adventurers are working for the Guild.

Additionally, Patron Magnus seem to know the coven as they have been invited to his castle on multiple occasions. But, he seems rather relunctant at the idea of the Guild cooperating with them officially.
