Dwarves
Basic Information
Anatomy
Dwarves are usually shorter than humans, averaging about 4 to 5 feet tall. They have a stocky and muscular build, emphasizing strength and durability. Their robust frame allows them to excel in tasks requiring physical labor.
Dwarves have short but powerful limbs, with strong arms and thick hands, making them adept at crafting and mining. Their fingers are often calloused from work, and they are skilled at using tools.
Dwarven ears are often slightly pointed, though not as pronounced as elves'. This gives them a distinctive profile.
Biological Traits
Dwarves have developed a remarkable resistance to poison, a trait that has evolved largely due to their legendary heavy drinking habits. Over countless generations, their bodies have adapted to process and neutralize a variety of toxic substances found in potent brews and fermented beverages. This unique resilience allows them to indulge in the strongest of spirits without suffering the ill effects that would incapacitate others. Their robust livers and specialized enzymes effectively detoxify harmful compounds, turning what might be a curse for most into a celebrated trait for dwarves. This ability not only enhances their social gatherings, where feasting and drinking are central, but also makes them formidable opponents in battle, capable of shrugging off the effects of venomous foes while raising their tankards in cheer.
